Coins, Sports Cards, Stamps and Other Collectibles at This Week’s Auction

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! I’m back with a new auction highlight. I’ve been absent for the last month and haven’t been able to attend any auctions, and after seeing the items being auctioned, I’ve missed some great ones 😦 Gitie and her team have been acquiring some fantastic estates and bringing items for everyone! This week’s auction is no different, as you’ll see in the pictures below.

In this post I’ve highlighted coins, stamps, tools, appliances and many other items up for bid, including a couple of primitive- looking items that I have no idea of what they are πŸ™‚

Well that’s it for the highlighted items, but there is so much more on the auction block tonight. Click here to view these and many more items. Even better, come to the auction tonight and see everything up close and in detail. Doors open at 5:00 p.m. for preview, and the auction starts promptly at 6:00.

Hope to see you there! Until next time…happy bidding!!

Hi Everyone! Gitie’s and Gitie’s Auctions has “laboriously” planned an awesome auction to kick off the Labor Day weekend…pun intended πŸ™‚ I just love using puns LOL!

A few of the items up for bid at this week’s auction include a large wine bottle, vintage crockery, Little Tikes, vintage hand held lamps, vintage Piggy Banks, a Sci-Fi DVD collection, vintage toys, boxes of craft supplies, a signed post-WWII item from France, vintage linens, a beautiful Russian Nesting doll…and the list goes on!! This would hold a lot of wine!

Some vintage pottery, and a creepy jack-o-lantern that “photobombed” the picture.

A nice selection of Little Tikes toys. This brand of toy holds it’s age well!

Vintage hand held lamps…I’d love to know what these were actually used for. If you know, please leave a comment.

Great investment opportunity!
Win these, then save your pennies to bid on other items! LOL

Binge watch this great Sci-Fi series…don’t forget the snacks πŸ™‚

A selection of vintage toys. Check out the cool Big Bird record player!

This is just a few pics of the craft supplies up for bid…since I’m a crafter I think my wallet and studio are going to be in trouble πŸ™‚

If this piece could talk, what stories in history would it tell??

Box lot of pretty, vintage linens.

A beautiful Russian Nesting doll

Make an evening out of it, and grab a bite to eat. See below for this week’s menu of culinary delights!

Doors open at 5:00 P.M. to preview all of the items up for bid, and the auction begins at 6:00. Hope to see you there!

No Auction or Warehouse this Weekend…

…but Don’t be Sad, They’ll be Back!!

Gitie’s and Gitie’s Auctions will be taking a well earned vacation this weekend. Therefore there will be no auction this Friday (August 23rd), and the Warehouse will be closed Saturday (August 24th). However, Gitie’s Shop will be open, as usual, with a great selection of inventory including some new Fall and Halloween dΓ©cor. Although, to be honest it’s been too hot for me to think about Fall and Halloween just yet, so to help with the heat the shop now has an extensive inventory of working, vintage fans. Go check them out, they’re an awesome piece of working history and really do cool you down πŸ™‚

The Auctions and Warehouse will resume their normal operation the following Friday. Yay!!!!

Until next time, stay cool! Angie

Hi Everyone, I’m back again with another auction highlight! Make sure you head over to Gitie’s Auction Zip page to take a look at many more items up for bid at this Friday’s auction. Keep reading to click on the link to take you directly there.

It was hard for me to choose just a few items to highlight, but I managed to come up with a short list πŸ™‚ First on the list is a large collection of coins, several pieces of navy art and a wonderful collection of Motown memorabilia!

Also on my list are several advertising signs and a couple of very large advertising throw blankets; and although it may be too hot for blankets now, don’t worry it will get cold again!

I love history and had to include a box of vintage newspapers, including at least one WWII era issue.

As I mentioned above, there are so many more items up for bid this Friday. Click here to view many of the items available, then make plans to come and view all the items.

Doors open at 5:00 P.M. for preview, auction starts promptly at 6:00 P.M. Hope to see you there!

Until next time, Happy Bidding…Angie

A Piece of Space History

Gitie’s and Gitie’s Auctions often receive artwork to sell on consignment. I was excited to see this large lithograph on canvas by renown artist Robert T. McCall, that had been recently acquired on consignment!

This awesome conceptual lithograph is titled Lunar Landing, and was completed in 1973 to depict the 1969 Apollo 11 Moon Landing. This lithograph had a low production run of 190 pieces, and this particular piece is signed 77/190 along with the artist’s signature.

I always enjoy researching the artists of artwork almost as much as I enjoy the piece itself. The information I found on the artist of this lithograph was so fascinating I just had to share!

Robert T. McCall was an American conceptual artist, born in 1919 in Ohio. He is regarded as on of the top artist of Space art. I found this fact interesting since he was born only 16 years after man first sustained flight in a powered aircraft.

My research on Robert McCall found that he was an illustrator for Life Magazine, an official artist of NASA, promotional artist for 2001: A Space Odyssey, and production artist on Star Trek the Next Generation. He artwork can be found on U.S. postage stamps and NASA mission patches; and he has murals on the walls of the National Air and Space Museum, National Gallery of Art, Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center, and Epcot in Walt Disney World!

Sadly, Robert McCall passed away in 2010, at the age of 90, just 10 years (really just a moment in time) before the recent Apollo 11 Moon Landing’s 50th Anniversary. I would have loved to have seen his conceptualization of the next 50 years of space and space travel!

If you’re interested in adding this “out of this world” (pun intended) lithograph to your home or collection, click here to be taken to Gities Boutique on eBay. Here you will find additional information including measurements, condition etc.

Until Next Time, Angie
