Facebook Live Auction Tomorrow

Hi Everyone! It’s been a couple of weeks since I’ve posted, but I wanted to let everyone know that Gitie has another Facebook Live Auction tomorrow evening! She has a variety of unique items up for bid. Take a look at some pictures of a few of the items below, and if you’d like to see more head over to her FB page.

First up, a couple of art pieces, with at least one from a local artist. Both pieces are of Colonial Beach, the one on the left is of the boardwalk and beach. The piece on the right looks like a photo taken, during a storm, on Monroe Bay.

Next is a large collection of fantastically detailed birds carved out of stone and crystal.

Check out these intricate molds! I’m not sure what they’re used for, shortbread, or metal pouring maybe??? If you know, please leave a comment at the bottom of this post.

There is also a beautiful, vintage mini cocktail set housed in a set of books; and a tortoise colored bakelite case that could be used as a purse, make-up or art case, or as I would use it a sewing box 🙂

Rounding out this post are cast-iron toys, vintage advertising, knife with leather holder, antique gun powder flask, and a lovely fully-painted miniature portrait.

I hope you saw something that interested you, and will join Gitie tomorrow night at 6:00 P.M. when she goes live! If you’ve never watched or participated in her FB auctions, please familiarize yourself with the Terms of Auction below. Also consider following this blog and getting email notifications when new content is posted by signing up at the bottom of this post.

Thanks for spending time with us, and we hope to see you online!Happy Bidding,
Angie

I’m back today with another post highlighting some of the items at this week’s upcoming auction, and it’s going to be a long one with a lot of pictures! So grab your beverage of choice and read on 🙂 To get a better look at the pictures, click on an image to enlarge.

Up first, in my highlights, is a selection of vintage slot machines. Available at the auction is real casino machine and several slot machine banks…and at least one of the banks still has it’s original box!

Next is a collection of vintage and collector pocket watches and vintage advertising items.

Vintage pocket watches

For the fine and performing arts enthusiasts, there are some lovely black and white photo art pieces and a wonderful musical instrument, that I believe is a mandolin.

If you’re looking for some housewares including table ware, silver serving pieces and much more, this week’s auction is full of choices. Highlighted is an entire table setting of coordinating dinnerware, linens and centerpieces; and a lovely set of blue and white kitchen canisters and jars.

Next, a nice selection of vintage figurines and a tray-lot of vintage linens that may include a few vintage hankies.

No auction would be complete without, at least, a few pieces of antique and mid-century furniture.

Finally, a personal favorite of mine, a whole pack of PAWSOME Basset Hounds!

This post contains only a small fraction of the items that will be available at the auction. If you want to see many more, click here. Auction House doors open Friday evening at 5:00 P.M. for preview, with bidding starting promptly at 6:00. See below for this week’s menu of food and beverage items available for purchase.

Until next time, Happy bidding! Angie

A selection of vintage toys. Check out the cool Big Bird record player!

This is just a few pics of the craft supplies up for bid…since I’m a crafter I think my wallet and studio are going to be in trouble 🙂

If this piece could talk, what stories in history would it tell??

Box lot of pretty, vintage linens.

A beautiful Russian Nesting doll

Coins, Navy Art and Motown Memorabilia Among the Many Items at this Week’s Auction

Hi Everyone, I’m back again with another auction highlight! Make sure you head over to Gitie’s Auction Zip page to take a look at many more items up for bid at this Friday’s auction. Keep reading to click on the link to take you directly there.

It was hard for me to choose just a few items to highlight, but I managed to come up with a short list 🙂 First on the list is a large collection of coins, several pieces of navy art and a wonderful collection of Motown memorabilia!

Also on my list are several advertising signs and a couple of very large advertising throw blankets; and although it may be too hot for blankets now, don’t worry it will get cold again!

I love history and had to include a box of vintage newspapers, including at least one WWII era issue.

As I mentioned above, there are so many more items up for bid this Friday. Click here to view many of the items available, then make plans to come and view all the items.

Doors open at 5:00 P.M. for preview, auction starts promptly at 6:00 P.M. Hope to see you there!

Until next time, Happy Bidding…Angie

A Piece of Space History

Gitie’s and Gitie’s Auctions often receive artwork to sell on consignment. I was excited to see this large lithograph on canvas by renown artist Robert T. McCall, that had been recently acquired on consignment!

This awesome conceptual lithograph is titled Lunar Landing, and was completed in 1973 to depict the 1969 Apollo 11 Moon Landing. This lithograph had a low production run of 190 pieces, and this particular piece is signed 77/190 along with the artist’s signature.

I always enjoy researching the artists of artwork almost as much as I enjoy the piece itself. The information I found on the artist of this lithograph was so fascinating I just had to share!

Robert T. McCall was an American conceptual artist, born in 1919 in Ohio. He is regarded as on of the top artist of Space art. I found this fact interesting since he was born only 16 years after man first sustained flight in a powered aircraft.

My research on Robert McCall found that he was an illustrator for Life Magazine, an official artist of NASA, promotional artist for 2001: A Space Odyssey, and production artist on Star Trek the Next Generation. He artwork can be found on U.S. postage stamps and NASA mission patches; and he has murals on the walls of the National Air and Space Museum, National Gallery of Art, Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center, and Epcot in Walt Disney World!

Sadly, Robert McCall passed away in 2010, at the age of 90, just 10 years (really just a moment in time) before the recent Apollo 11 Moon Landing’s 50th Anniversary. I would have loved to have seen his conceptualization of the next 50 years of space and space travel!

If you’re interested in adding this “out of this world” (pun intended) lithograph to your home or collection, click here to be taken to Gities Boutique on eBay. Here you will find additional information including measurements, condition etc.

Until Next Time, Angie
