Gitie and Gitie’s Auctions Bring Live Auctions to Facebook Live

Hi Everyone! Hope you are staying safe and healthy as we navigate through this challenging moment in our history 😊.  Speaking of history…history has shown us that out of turmoil and uncertainty comes adaptation, ingenuity and inventiveness. Today in 2020, we’re again seeing those positive things rising up through the uncertainty and turmoil.

Gitie and Gitie’s Auctions was impacted by Virginia’s business restrictions and therefore could not hold the Friday night auctions that we all love. However, by adapting and using social media, she and her team have brought the Friday night auctions to us, giving us the opportunity for fun and connecting with friends right from your home!

Last Friday Gitie and Gitie’s Auctions launched their first Facebook Live Auction 😊! Despite a couple of small technical hiccups, it was great to hear Gitie’s voice as she described and excepted bids on some awesome items. Just as importantly, everyone participating had a great time chatting with friends and other online bidders, while we enjoyed some friendly bidding wars 😊.

At the moment Gitie and Gitie’s Auctions are uncertain how long, and how frequent, the Facebook Live Auctions will continue. However, I am excited to say she is currently planning on having them weekly, until business restrictions have eased. Once restrictions have eased, she plans to continue the online auctions in addition to the live auctions. Stay tuned for details on platform, frequency etc.!

To join the auction this Friday, go to Gitie and Gitie’s Auctions on Facebook, or click this link https://www.facebook.com/Gitiesauction/ , at 6:00 P.M. Scroll through her page until you see the “Live” auction. The bidding starts at 6:15 to give folks a chance to join. While you’re waiting, click on the bell icon in the upper right corner of the chat screen to get notified anytime Gitie goes live. Take a look below, to see some of the other items that were auctioned during her first Facebook Live Auction.

The terms of auction are:

  • All items will be invoiced and paid through PayPal (you do not need a PayPal account to receive and pay invoices).
  • Winning bidders have 24 hours to pay their invoice. NOTE: If you do not pay your invoice within the 24 hours, you will lose your item. If you do not pay your invoice on time, twice, you will no longer be allowed to participate in Gitie’s online auctions.
  • Items may be picked up locally or can be shiped to you. If you chose to have your item(s) shipped, you will charged a shipping fee. Multiple items won and shipped to the same address qualify for a discounted shipping fee.
  • Winning items will be shipped after payment is received.
  • Due to the lag in Facebook Live events, the auctioneer will give a 30 second warning, before declaring lot sold, to ensure they do not miss any bids.
  • Bidding on lots will consist of the following bid structure:
    • $1 to $10 – Bids will be in $1 increments until the lot reaches $20.
    • $20 to $50 – Bids will be in $2 increments until the lot reaches $50
    • $50 and above – Bids will be in $5 increments until item is sold.
    • NOTE: Adjustments of the bid increments will be at the auctioneer’s discretion.
  • To bid, use the comment box to enter the amount of your bid. Important: place a letter in front of your bid amount. You may use any letter, and the dollar sign is not needed. So as an example, if I wanted to bid $8 for an item, I decide to use the first letter of my last name, Self and type S8 in the comments.
  • If you’re no longer interested in the item, please type “Out” in the comments, so auctioneer knows you are no longer bidding on that item.
  • After it appears no more bids are coming in, the auctioneer will announce that bidding for that item is about to close and count down from 5 to 1, declare item “sold” and state the winning bidder.

Please keep in mind that this is an entirely new process for Gitie’s Auctions and her team, so details and hiccups are still being worked out. Gitie is working hard to make this a fun and interactive experience for everyone 😊. She and her team are both appreciative and thankful for all the support and patience that her customers have given.

Hope to see you on Facebook for some fun and friendly bidding! Angie

Upcoming Auction is Going to be Awesome!

Hi Everyone! Angie here for Gitie’s and Gities Auctions. I’m back today with another post highlighting some of the items at this week’s upcoming auction, and it’s going to be a long one with a lot of pictures! So grab your beverage of choice and read on 🙂 To get a better look at the pictures, click on an image to enlarge.

Up first, in my highlights, is a selection of vintage slot machines. Available at the auction is real casino machine and several slot machine banks…and at least one of the banks still has it’s original box!

Next is a collection of vintage and collector pocket watches and vintage advertising items.

For the fine and performing arts enthusiasts, there are some lovely black and white photo art pieces and a wonderful musical instrument, that I believe is a mandolin.

If you’re looking for some housewares including table ware, silver serving pieces and much more, this week’s auction is full of choices. Highlighted is an entire table setting of coordinating dinnerware, linens and centerpieces; and a lovely set of blue and white kitchen canisters and jars.

Next, a nice selection of vintage figurines and a tray-lot of vintage linens that may include a few vintage hankies.

No auction would be complete without, at least, a few pieces of antique and mid-century furniture.

Finally, a personal favorite of mine, a whole pack of PAWSOME Basset Hounds!

This post contains only a small fraction of the items that will be available at the auction. If you want to see many more, click here. Auction House doors open Friday evening at 5:00 P.M. for preview, with bidding starting promptly at 6:00. See below for this week’s menu of food and beverage items available for purchase.

Until next time, Happy bidding! Angie

Huge Auction Planned to Kick Off Your Labor Day Weekend

Hi Everyone! Gitie’s and Gitie’s Auctions has “laboriously” planned an awesome auction to kick off the Labor Day weekend…pun intended 🙂 I just love using puns LOL!

A few of the items up for bid at this week’s auction include a large wine bottle, vintage crockery, Little Tikes, vintage hand held lamps, vintage Piggy Banks, a Sci-Fi DVD collection, vintage toys, boxes of craft supplies, a signed post-WWII item from France, vintage linens, a beautiful Russian Nesting doll…and the list goes on!! Take a look at below at these items, then click here to view many more items that will be auctioned.

This would hold a lot of wine!

Some vintage pottery, and a creepy jack-o-lantern that “photobombed” the picture.

A nice selection of Little Tikes toys. This brand of toy holds it’s age well!

Vintage hand held lamps…I’d love to know what these were actually used for. If you know, please leave a comment.

Great investment opportunity!
Win these, then save your pennies to bid on other items! LOL

Binge watch this great Sci-Fi series…don’t forget the snacks 🙂

A selection of vintage toys. Check out the cool Big Bird record player!

This is just a few pics of the craft supplies up for bid…since I’m a crafter I think my wallet and studio are going to be in trouble 🙂

If this piece could talk, what stories in history would it tell??

Box lot of pretty, vintage linens.

A beautiful Russian Nesting doll

Make an evening out of it, and grab a bite to eat. See below for this week’s menu of culinary delights!

Doors open at 5:00 P.M. to preview all of the items up for bid, and the auction begins at 6:00. Hope to see you there!

Until next time…Happy Bidding, Angie

No Auction or Warehouse this Weekend…

…but Don’t be Sad, They’ll be Back!!

Gitie’s and Gitie’s Auctions will be taking a well earned vacation this weekend. Therefore there will be no auction this Friday (August 23rd), and the Warehouse will be closed Saturday (August 24th). However, Gitie’s Shop will be open, as usual, with a great selection of inventory including some new Fall and Halloween décor. Although, to be honest it’s been too hot for me to think about Fall and Halloween just yet, so to help with the heat the shop now has an extensive inventory of working, vintage fans. Go check them out, they’re an awesome piece of working history and really do cool you down 🙂

The Auctions and Warehouse will resume their normal operation the following Friday. Yay!!!!

Until next time, stay cool! Angie
